goodbye for now (ccr)

The day has come. I thank you for following me along on this journey, and I promise to come back. I present you my Creative Critical Reflection, maybe with this you will get a bigger sense of how I am in person and not through a blog. Thank you again.

CCR:)

the day has arrived - film opening final product

After nine weeks, 63 days, and 1,512 hours, the day has arrived. The day were I get to finally showcase my hard work. My film opening project. It's really crazy to say that the day is finally here. Lots of tears, screams, laughter, and sweat (literal sweat) came with creating this project. But as sad as I am to say this, I'm glad its over. Not in the way that I hated creating this project, but in the way that I am ready for something new. This was the first time I worked on a project for so long, and seeing my progress and blogging it has been so rewarding.

So, here you have it. Hope you enjoy.

My film opening: Escape.

ccr planning

The time has come to reflect. And let me tell you, there is a lot to reflect. I'm not technically done editing, but the good thing is that I'm really good at multi tasking so I will be editing and as well as my CCR So part of my project is to create a Creative Critical Reflection in a form of a video to show progress, and to basically look back and reflect on your project.

There are some major things that I have to include in this CCR, like target audience, genre, plot of the opening, but also answer some questions. These questions are :

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

4. How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in this project?

To make the progress of my CCR easier, I have made a doc including a script of what I'm going to say, as well as a storyline for the video. I found this to be the easiest way to plan my CCR.

My influence for this CCR are Vogues 73 question videos. Here is a link to one of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnbCSboujF4

I wanted to do it based on this because I'm a big fan of these videos, and of the fashion industry as a whole. I also feel that filming it this way I will be able to show my personality through the video. A lot of the more detailed information is on my doc, but basically it's going to be a type of day in the life, with the necessary content and research within it. I will be taking the viewer through some of my favorite places around my town, as well as some of our filming locations.

For this, I will obviously need some help, so I'm having my friend Vanessa help me film this.

I wanted to make this post to give a quick preview of my actual CCR, and I'm planning on filming and editing this Saturday, April 2nd. Yes, I'm a procrastinator, but the point is that I've learned from this experience that tim-management is extremely important, especially with project.

Ok, I have to go. Bye bye.

screaming, crying, throwing up (editing edition)

Sooooo, I underestimated how FRUSTRATING editing can be. Like seriously, linking up sound and cutting videos, and building them together, and making sure it matches, and filters, an.. It's so much at once. AND I'm not even done editing, and the project is due in three days like????

Ok, let's just breathe.

First I'm gonna talk about the program we used. We originally wanted to use Da Vinci software to edit, but due to efficiency, we decided to use iMovie sine we were a lot more familiarized with that software than Da Vinci, this was probably the best decision we made.

So editing, literally just read the title. Ok, no. Positivity. So we started editing at 12:06pm and ended editing at 4:34pm, and we didn't even finish or add any credits yea. Frustrating I know. My partner were at first worried that we would be under two minutes, but after editing we realized that we were worried for going OVER two minutes, which is the max. This led us to cut out the text message scene. We are still in the process of editing so I can't say anything for sure, but we are still looking for a way to end the opening, and not have the music to all of the sudden stop.

We are also having some conflict on when to start the music. I believe that we shouldn't start it right when the film starts because I;m scared that 1)it'll look like a music video, and 2) we need some establishing shots with natural audio, original audio heard in the scene, and not have the music, I find it to look too superficial and not at professional.

We have been discussing this, and I will be keeping you updated. But right now I really want to talk about this one scene that literally drove me insane. Like insane. It was one of the flashback scenes and I needed audio fro one of the scenes to overlap a different scene. Me being one not too experience on editing, yet being a perfectionist, this scene drove me insane. After 100 times we got it. And it was probably the best moment of my life. No joke. Don't believe me? Watch this video:

Editing the actual visuals were relatively easy. The only problem we had was with the order of them, and how we would include the flashback scenes. The flashback scenes are super important since they add context to the storyline and the character within the two minutes, while also not revealing to much of the future film. We also used a filter that was provided by iMovie to edit the color of the scenes a little darker with a blue tint, to not only differentiate the flashback scenes to present scenes, but the blue tint also adds a sense of sadness and wary, I learned the power of colors from one of my teachers lectures, and I learned that olor can help visualize an emotion, and that is why we decided to include this blue tint.

Well after that, crying of happiness, we continued editing. We got the core and full structure of the film done, not we just need to focus on deciding when to start the song, end the song, and credits. My partner and I looked through the iMovie fonts and transitions for the credits, but I personally believe that those look a bit childish. Still deciding, but I promise to keep you update.

Ok that was bit of a rant, enjoy some visuals from our editing sessions:

the moment we've all been waiting for

We found a song. I'm gonna repeat that one more time. We found a song. YESSSSS. This has literally been like weight being lift off of my shoulders and I can finally relax. Finding this song was so crucial, since it plays a major part in our film, yet it's been the hardest part of this whole project. But I am so happy to say that we found a song. We found this song in Pond5 and we paid $30. Honestly, those $30 were worth every penny, because with that song, we were able to start editing.

Funny enough, we found the song and we had planned to edit that same day, it was as if the universe was on our side, finally. This song fits perfectly with the vibe of our song and I couldn't be happier with it. My partner and I literally had a dance party because of this song. Ugh finally. I feel so relieved, but I feel like I already said that. Ok ok, so enough about the song, I'm sorry I'm really excited, we need to talk about editing. Ohhhh, editing was fun. I'm being sarcastic, did you see it? Let's just say that editing consisted of salsa all over the counter, frustration, and some tears. Be on the lookout for an editing blog post. Sab out.

COUNTDOWN: 4 DAYS

RECOMMENDATION:

I just finished the second season of Bridgerton and let me just say, freaking ANTHONY BRIDGERTON. I'm in love with him. If you haven't watched Bridgerton yet, I recommend you to watch it and leave me your opinions. It's so good. And the English accent, ugh amazing.

UPCOMING

  • project due 04/04
  • CCR (filming and doing it on Saturday 04/02)
  • finish editing and adding credits

still on the lookout

Our song. We have everything but a songggg. Why does this have to be so frustrating? Why so difficult? It’s really annoying to be honest. my partner and i are considering paying the $60 for the song we want to use because the rest that we have found are trashhhhh. I’m currently at Boston airport, on my way back home to miami. I’m glad that i’m on my way back home, but i’m really going to miss Boston, I love it here. the weather, the vibes, the structure, everything about it (and also probably that my sister lives here). well, i’m about to board my flight, oh did i mention that i’m flying by myself for the first time?? Let’s just say it was an adventure. Ok now really goodbye. OH NO WAIT! My partner and i are editing tomorrow, so be on the lookout for a blog really shortly. We are aiming to edit the WHOLE thing tomorrow. Wish us luck. Ok now bye.

COUNTDOWN: 8 DAYS

RECOMMENDATION:
this isn’t much of a recommendation, but i just started the book Picture of Dorian Gray, and it’s so far really really good. The Great Gatsby has some competition.

non film aspects

so now that we filmed everything, at least we think we did, it’s time to pick a calligraphy for our editing. these are some of the options:

we are also thinking on either doing a yellow or deep blue as the color. these are our options:

we find that calligraphy, and the colors especially, are essential since they also add to the vibe of not only the film, but our main character too.

comment which one you like best!

(p.s. im actually the worst person for this because i cannot make a decision for my life)

goodbye for now (ccr)
