Music Marketing Project - Blog Post #1

Music Marketing Project

Blog Post #1

This is definitely not an easy task. To create a whole new artist from the ground up, and create a whole marketing campaign had its challenges for sure, but the good thing that we had was freedom. For this project, my team members and I simply got assigned a genre and four songs. From those songs we pick one to market and create an artist for it. That is when the first challenge came about:  what song to pick. Our group had some difficulty choosing between two songs but at the end we chose the song “Me and Your Mama.”  We felt that this song would challenge enough to make a unique and Intriguing campaign. After we discussed some ideas of how to market the song, make a music video, and represent this artist, we decided to jot them all down, and create something from it.
After we discussed some ideas of how we could make this project, we decided that we wanted to  build our campaign with an artist behind a message. We thought that this could  help us in our marketing process, as well as distribution.  Our message Is about drugs, and the ongoing cycle that some individuals deal with when they are addicts.  We just campaign and we plan to raise awareness through music.  After deciding that we wanted this to be our main focus, we moved to a more visual view:  the music video.  After some discussion, we decided that we wanted to base our music video on a storytelling  type of view.  After that, we started doing a storyboard to kind of set our ideas down and make a whole outline of the visual representation. Even though none of our group members are very artistically gifted, we tried our best to draw our visions for this video.
While making the storyboard, we also decided to make a PowerPoint presentation to illustrate and show all our steps to make this new artist. Our art list is very influential, and dependent on social media. We made our artists be very connected with their fans through social media, like Instagram, Twitter, and Spotify. Even though we aren't done with her project just yet, we are confident that we will deliver a good presentation, as well as a great brand new artist.

A screenshot of a list of ideas the group had.

Just some random brainstorming.
